Do you see any remnants from Victorian Society nowadays ? I see a lot, for example: today, we know that people have more freedoms in marriage, but have you seen a woman propose to a man ? Never, or very very rare, right ? Man propose to woman is a remnant from Victorian society. I wonder why it still exists today. Can you explain why, or can you find any other remnants ?
Victorian Society was patriarchal (men-dominated). A very obvious, yet unheeded, remnant is the distinction between Ms and Mrs for women, while men don't have that distinction. I wonder why ... Can anyone answer that for me ??
It's tradition, I think. Also, because like it or not, men are still dominant in today's society.
Another one is women wearing white wedding dresses. White stands for purity and virginity, and women wear it even if they are not -_-. That's tradition, too.
